SOS – Students Observing Sustainability: A Fun and Educational Incursion for Melbourne Primary Schools
Bring the curriculum to life with SOS – Students Observing Sustainability, an engaging and interactive primary school incursion that combines environmental drama and hands-on activities to inspire students to care for their planet.
Perfect for sustainability projects in primary schools, this workshop uses small group scenes on pollution and creative drama to explore real-world environmental issues. Students actively participate in sustainability activities, investigating waste management, reducing pollution and protecting natural resources.
This fun incursion aligns with VELS curriculum standards, meeting cross-curriculum priorities.
How does it work?
A skilled and experienced educator will run a one-hour session with up to 30 students in Years 3-6 and running up to 5 sessions in one day.
All students become characters in the stories created using a costume, prop or puppet and they work in small groups to create scenes depicting the following environment issues:
Students will develop a deeper understanding of sustainability and their role in creating a greener future by proposing positive local actions that can help global issues.
