School Transition Incursion
Join Seal on her exciting adventure as she embarks on her Transition Day at Big School, exploring a world filled with timetables, new friends, and fun activities.
Like many children, Seal feels a mix of excitement and nervousness. What if she loses her way? What if no one wants to play with her? Through roll call and Show & Tell, she meets her new classmates at Wild Primary. With their help, Seal learns about turn-taking, making friends, and handling her worries about starting school.
This interactive incursion lets every child participate in the story by using their own puppet to act out key moments from Seal’s first day. It’s a fantastic way to encourage discussions, answer school transition questions, and help children build confidence for the big step ahead.
A professional drama teacher visits your centre, bringing 30 puppets—one for each preschooler preparing for school. Every child will play two different puppet characters, immersing themselves in the journey of Seal’s first day. This hands-on approach makes learning fun and engaging!
After Transition Day, Seal and her friends still have many questions about Big School. A set of three engaging videos helps children continue the conversation at home with their families or as part of a second Transition Day activity.
Accompanied by downloadable PDF activity sheets, this resource is a valuable addition to primary school orientation programs, whether used in preschools or primary school transition initiatives.
