Fairytale Fiasco! – A Drama-Filled Storytelling Incursion for Melbourne Primary Schools

Bring fairytales to life with our Fairytale Fiasco! incursion, where students use drama and performance to explore narratives, fairytales and creative narrative structure.

Fairytale Land is mixed up and muddled up! Students engage in this fun fractured fairytale as characters who need to restore order to Fairytale Land.

Designed for Prep to Year 2 students, this interactive workshop immerses students in characterisation, role-playing, and improvisation skills.

They’ll dress up as iconic fairytale characters—Witches, Dragons, Pigs, Wolves, Cats, Mice and more—to act out a dramatic adventure, learning narrative story structure and expressive storytelling along the way.

Created by qualified and experienced teachers, this workshop links directly to the VELS Curriculum for Prep to Year 2. With a focus on bringing the curriculum to life, it promotes creativity, collaboration, and personal expression through drama and storytelling.

How does it work?

A skilled drama teacher leads up to 30 students in a one-hour session, where every student transforms into a character from the fractured fairytale with two costume changes, ensuring maximum engagement.

Follow-up resources are provided to help teachers extend the learning in the classroom.
